Brent Fortenberry, assistant professor in the College of Architecture at Texas A& M University was in town this week, creating a digital record of the William Johnson House. This 3-D documentation will allow for further study and interpretation as well as the creation of virtual tours of the site, an important tool these days which will allow visitors to explore the property online. The work at the Johnson House is part of the exciting, broader documentation of buildings associated with the enslaved peoples of the Natchez District. This project is a collaboration among Historic Natchez Foundation, Natchez National Historical Park, and Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Dr. Fortenberry, pictured here in the museum rooms of the Johnson house, is also the associate director of the Center for Heritage Conservation at A&M.
