Robert Edgar Bost came to Natchez in 1890 as supervisor of construction for M.T. Lewman Construction Company completing the Natchez Hotel. Looking for more work, Bost met his soon to be wife, Annie Davis, and remained in Natchez for the rest of his life.

Bost became the leading contractor/architect in Natchez and completed nearly 40 original buildings. R.E. Bost worked mainly in the styles of Queen Anne and Colonial Revival. His legacy can still be seen across the Natchez landscape!
